India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Set to Launch on February 12, Announces Foreign Minister Ali Sabry

Foreign Minister Ali Sabry has revealed to the Indian media that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) will be officially launched on 12th February. Speaking to WION diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal in Perth, Minister Sabry expressed optimism about the UPI payment gateway signing, stating, “I think both our leaders will connect online, which will help increase tourism.”

Minister Sabry, currently in Perth for the Indian Ocean conference, also highlighted the collaborative efforts between India and Sri Lanka, pointing to the potential establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Sri Lanka. “A delegation from Sri Lanka has visited IIT Madras, and they are discussing the possibility of establishing an IIT campus in Sri Lanka,” reported WION.
