A concerning trend has emerged as more than 1,700 doctors, specialists, and medical professionals have departed Sri Lanka in the past two years. Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, spokesperson for the Government Medical Officers’ Association, attributes this significant exodus to the ongoing crisis and economic struggles faced by the nation’s citizens.
Dr. Wijesinghe emphasizes that the departure of medical professionals has taken a toll on the operations of both large and small hospitals across the country, posing a potential threat to the healthcare system. Source – newsfirst.lk
