Meteorology Department Forecast: Showers and Thundershowers Expected Across Several Provinces

According to the Meteorology Department, showers or thundershowers are forecasted to occur at various locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, and Southern provinces after 2 p.m. Additionally, there is a possibility of showers or thundershowers in a few coastal areas stretching from Galle to Hambantota via Matara during the morning hours.

Misty conditions may prevail at certain places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces in the morning.

The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate any damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

In sea areas, showers or thundershowers are expected at a few locations off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Matara via Hambantota. Furthermore, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.

Winds are anticipated to be south-easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee, and south-westerly or variable in direction in other sea areas around the island, with speeds ranging between 20-30 kmph. Sea conditions around the island are expected to be slight, although temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
