Meteorology Department Forecasts Increased Rainfall in Multiple Sri Lankan Provinces

The Meteorology Department predicts heightened rainy conditions in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central, and Southern provinces today and tomorrow, accompanied by cloudy skies across most parts of the island.

According to the forecast, intermittent showers are expected in the mentioned provinces and Polonnaruwa district, with several spells of showers anticipated in Anuradhapura district. In other regions, showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in several places after 1:00 p.m., including the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning.

There is a possibility of heavy showers exceeding 100 mm in some areas of the Eastern and Uva Provinces, as well as in Hambantota district.

The public is urged to exercise caution and take appropriate measures to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
