According to Marie Antonia von Schönburg, Chief Delegate of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka, the effectiveness of Sri Lanka’s legal system in handling investment-related issues is often questioned due to perceived corruption and inefficiency.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror, von Schönburg stated that although laws exist, their implementation remains a challenge. This situation may deter investors from selecting Sri Lanka as their investment destination over other options.
To address concerns regarding corruption and inefficiency, Sri Lanka is actively working to establish a transparent and predictable environment conducive to investment while ensuring the protection of investors’ rights.
Von Schönburg emphasized that ongoing efforts to enhance the rule of law will contribute significantly to Sri Lanka’s reputation as a trustworthy and business-friendly destination for both domestic and foreign investors.
