PETRICHOR: Wildlife Art Exhibition by Tharanga Herath

Tharanga Herath will be holding his Natural History (Wildlife) Art exhibition from March 1st to 4th 2024 at Lionel Wendt Art Center, Colombo.

The exhibition showcases around 50 original paintings and illustrations that depict Sri Lankan unique bio-diversity. The artist has been painting for over 25 years and his works are based on his field experience, following his passion for Sri Lankan Biodiversity & eco- systems. He has illustrated publications on Endemic birds, Common wetland birds, and common butterflies of Sri Lanka for Wildlife Trust and Sri Lanka Turtle Conservation Project.

Tharanga is an internationally recognized Sri Lankan artist whose paintings are in private collections overseas. He had the opportunity to display 5 of his original paintings among the 130 artworks of 29 acclaimed artists worldwide at the Art & Vielfalt Wildlife art exhibition held at the Museum of Natural History in Magdeburg, Germany in 2018 as the sole Asian. He reached the finalist stage and represented Sri Lanka in Russia’s Golden Turtle 2019 International Art Contest & Wildlife Festival held in Moscow & St. Pietersburg among the 30 finalists, out of those 1261 artists worldwide who were registered in the competition. He appeared in the Mandala International Wildlife Art Exhibition held in Singapore in 2015 as well.

The visitors will have the opportunity to view some of the internationally acclaimed original paintings and the event is ideal for artists, art lovers, art & natural science students, and wildlife & nature enthusiasts.

The exhibition is an Entrance free event and will be open to public as below:

2024  – March 2nd to 4th – from 9.00 AM to 8.00 PM and

March 1st – from 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM as well.

At Lionel Wendt Art Center, Colombo 07.
