President Ranil Wickremesinghe Addresses G77+China Third South Summit in Kampala

 

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is currently delivering a keynote address at the Group of 77 and China (G77+China) Third South Summit in Kampala, Uganda, as reported by the President’s Media Division (PMD).

During his statement at the summit in Kampala, President Ranil Wickremesinghe underscored the importance of fostering unity within the G77 and China to effectively address the challenges confronting the Global South. Marking the 60th anniversary of the group, he emphasized fundamental principles such as unity and cooperation as essential foundations for sustainable solutions to these issues, as reported by the PMD.

The Sri Lankan President’s presence in Uganda is part of his participation in the XIX Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G77) and China Third South Summit.

The overarching theme of the G77 and China Third South Summit is “Leaving No One Behind.” During the summit, member states of the G77 and China will engage in discussions on developmental challenges and explore collaborative strategies to work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
