President Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed the Daily Mirror that he is unable to partake in the live political debate organized by Daily Mirror and Lankadeepa, despite receiving an invitation today.
“I am currently involved in debates in Parliament. If anyone wishes to engage in debates with me, they are welcome to join me in Parliament,” stated the President.
Invitations were extended to the main presidential candidates, including Ranil Wickremesinghe, National Peoples Power Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, for a live debate focusing on their parties’ economic and political policies, as well as their plans for the country’s future if elected in the upcoming presidential election.
While SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa is yet to respond to the invitation, NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has accepted the invitation to participate in the debate.
The debate will be broadcast live on the digital platforms of Daily Mirror, Lankadeepa, and Sunday Times.
