President’s Fund Extends and Enhances Scholarship Programme for 2021/2022 Academic Year

Under the auspices of the President and the guidance of the Secretary to the President, the President’s Fund has announced the extension and enhancement of the scholarship programme for the academic year 2021/2022, according to a statement from the President Media Division (PMD).

The initiative aims to identify and provide financial support to students facing economic challenges across all provinces in Sri Lanka, ensuring they can pursue their education without financial hindrances.

In a statement, the President’s Fund outlined the following key points:

  1. In response to special requests from students, the President has decided to increase the existing monthly allowance from Rs. 5,000.00 to Rs. 6,000.00, effective February 2024.
  2. The adjustment is intended to offer additional support to scholarship awardees, ensuring their financial well-being and uninterrupted learning until they sit for the G.C.E A/L examination. Ten monthly instalments have been disbursed so far.
  3. The President’s Fund will grant awards to 5,000 students who achieved the highest educational qualifications in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination for the year 2022/2023. Each selected student will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 6,000.00 until the completion of their school education, including the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination.
  4. The selection process for these scholarships is actively underway at the regional level across all provinces, with the awards expected to be conferred once the selection process concludes.
