Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka to Review Proposed Electricity Tariff Reduction

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has disclosed its intention to convene on Wednesday, the 28th, to deliberate on the proposed reduction in electricity tariffs. This reconsideration follows the tariff increase implemented in October 2023.

PUCSL Chairman, Professor Manjula Fernando, conveyed that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has submitted a proposal advocating for a reduction in the current electricity rates. The CEB, in an earlier announcement, stated that the proposed adjustment aims to decrease electricity bills by nearly 20 percent.

The outcome of the PUCSL’s decision regarding the proposed tariff revision is anticipated following their meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
