For more information, visit the Jayagamu Sri Lanka program at Mudduwa ground in Ratnapura, on the 26th and 27th.

When seeking employment abroad, it’s essential to register with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). This registration grants you access to numerous benefits. To learn more, participate in the Jayagamu Sri Lanka program taking place today and tomorrow at Mudduwa Ground in Ratnapura.

When departing for foreign employment, registration is carried out in accordance with Section 53 (3) of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Act No. 21 of 1985. If you are pursuing a foreign employment opportunity through a licensed private foreign employment agency, you must obtain final approval through that agency’s intervention. Alternatively, if you are pursuing a foreign employment opportunity independently, you should visit the SLBFE to obtain initial approval.

Registering with the SLBFE before departing for a foreign employment opportunity ensures that the government provides you with facilities and enhanced security measures.

When you register with the government before departing for a foreign employment opportunity, insurance coverage becomes one of the most crucial benefits you gain. The SLBFE is mandated to provide compensation of up to Rs 600,000 in case of harm to your life while working abroad. In cases of total disability, compensation ranging from Rs 125,000 to Rs 400,000 is possible. This insurance also covers the reimbursement of airfare for return to Sri Lanka due to illness, harassment, or accidents upon arrival. Additionally, in such situations, the SLBFE is committed to providing Rs 50,000 for treatment.
A scholarship program is also being implemented to meet the educational needs of children whose parents are registered with the government as migrant workers. If a child of a migrant worker passes the Grade 5 scholarship exam, they are awarded Rs. 20,000. For passing the G.C.E O/L, they receive Rs. 25,000, and for passing the G.C.E A/L, Rs. 35,000 is awarded by the SLBFE.

Migrant workers registered with SLBFE have the opportunity to contribute to a program conducted by its welfare division. This program aims to provide school equipment to students facing economic difficulties. Implemented by the welfare section of the Foreign Employment Bureau, it has opened doors for registered workers heading abroad.

Furthermore, arrangements have been made to provide you with the ability to apply for a loan of up to Rs. 500,000 through coordination with state banks if you are a migrant worker facing financial difficulties after registering with the SLBFE.

Additionally, besides providing insurance coverage for disabilities resulting from accidents abroad, the SLBFE undertakes the construction or repair of homes for those in need, with a maximum limit of Rs 1 million. To enhance the livelihoods of individuals not requiring housing assistance, SLBFE also offers a grant of Rs 100,000 to facilitate self-employment initiatives.

The SLBFE also provides benefits through various programs organized in a timely manner for those legally registered for foreign employment.
If you are looking forward to departing for a foreign employment opportunity, registering with the SLBFE will ensure a safe future for you and your family.

To avoid falling victim to human traffickers and to safely pursue a foreign employment opportunity, registration with the SLBFE is mandatory. Visit the SLBFE’s main office at No. 234, Denzil Kobbekaduwa Mawatha, Koswatta, Battaramulla, for registrations.
