Reward System Introduced for Police Officers Apprehending Drunk Drivers

In a new initiative, police officers who arrest drunk drivers will be rewarded, as per the directives of Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Indika Hapugoda has announced that officers will receive a reward of Rs. 5000 for each drunk driver apprehended.

To support this effort, one hundred and fifty thousand blood testing kits have been distributed to police stations nationwide for testing drunk drivers during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year period.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Indika Hapugoda further disclosed that 1500 police officers have been deployed across the island for these operations.
