The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has stated its intention to solicit nominations for the presidential election within the designated timeframe outlined by the Constitution and the Presidential Elections Act, No. 15 of 1981.
In an announcement made today (May 9), the Election Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting the presidential election within the statutory guidelines. Additionally, exercising its authority to determine the election date, the Commission has scheduled the presidential election to take place between September 17 and October 16, 2024.
