U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, Initiates Official Visit to Sri Lanka

Today, on the 13th of May, Donald Lu, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, has embarked on his official visit to Sri Lanka. His agenda includes engaging with officials spanning the political spectrum and representatives from civil society, aimed at strengthening the partnership between the United States and Sri Lanka.

Mr. Lu’s visit to Sri Lanka is part of a broader regional tour from May 10th to 15th, which also encompasses India and Bangladesh.

The U.S. State Department, in a statement released last week, highlighted that during his meetings, Mr. Lu will reiterate the United States’ commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. Additionally, he will underscore the significance of a vibrant civil society as a fundamental element of a free and democratic society.
