Windy Conditions to Persist Due to Southwest Monsoon, Says Meteorology Department

The prevailing windy conditions are expected to continue due to the Southwest Monsoon, according to the Meteorology Department.

Showers or thundershowers will occur intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces.

Fairly heavy showers of about 75 mm are likely in some areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Nuwara-Eliya district.

Showers or thundershowers will also occur in several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces in the evening or at night, the Meteorology Department reported.

Strong winds of about 50-60 km/h can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, Western, Southern, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee district.

Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 km/h can be expected at times elsewhere on the island.
